At Family Guidance Center of Alabama, our Counseling Services offer a safe and supportive space to help individuals, couples, and families overcome difficulties and strengthen their relationships. Whether you’re coping with a major life transition, working through relationship struggles, or seeking guidance for personal growth, our trained professionals are here to support you with evidence-based counseling and educational programs.
Our services are confidential, tailored to your needs, and offered at flexible times to accommodate busy schedules. Sliding-scale fees are available based on household income and family size, and we accept selected insurance coverages to make services accessible to all.

Specialized Programs to Meet Your Needs
Our Programs
Alabama Youth Relationship Education (AYRE)
Navigating relationships as a teenager can be tough, and many young people don’t have the tools to develop healthy, lasting relationships. AYRE provides relationship education and life skills training to teens across Alabama, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence they need to make positive choices. Key Topics Covered:
- Communication & Conflict Resolution Skills
- Understanding Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships
- Decision-Making & Goal-Setting for the Future
Life Is Fun Together (LIFT)
LIFT is a free program supporting healthy relationships through workshops and ongoing resources. Available in the Montgomery Center. Whether you’re dating, engaged, or married, LIFT helps couples:
- Improve communication skills.
- Learn effective conflict resolution techniques.
- Build stronger, healthier relationships.
This program is made possible through the Alabama Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education Project.
Families in Transition (FIT)
Separation and divorce can be confusing and painful for families, especially for children. The FIT Program is designed to help parents and children adjust to these changes in a way that promotes stability and healthy relationships. What to Expect:
- Guidance from trained professionals who facilitate adult, adolescent, and children’s groups.
- A focus on effective co-parenting, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Support in answering children’s questions about divorce in a healthy, age-appropriate way.
Traditional Counseling Services
We provide confidential counseling services for individuals, couples, or families who may be experiencing problems in their family, marriage, work, or personal lives. Our professional therapists work toward achieving agreed-upon goals within the counseling process.
Counseling focuses on problem areas such as depression, anxiety, marriage, parent-child relationships, chill adolescent adjustment, stepfamily relationships, divorce adjustment, parenting, and adult life adjustment.
