Kids & Kin
Supporting Family Caregivers, Strengthening Futures
Caring for a relative’s child is a special responsibility, and we’re here to support you! The Kids & Kin Program is a free training and resource program designed to help relative child care providers feel confident and prepared in their caregiving role.
Available statewide in all 67 Alabama counties, this program offers educational workshops, support activities, and valuable resources that help caregivers provide safe, high-quality care for the children they love. Participants in the Kids & Kin Program can also join a Voluntary Certification Program, earning health and safety items, books, and learning materials by attending free training sessions focused on enhancing child care quality.
To qualify for the Kids & Kin Program, you must:
- Be at least 19 years old
- Provide child care for a grandchild, niece, nephew, or sibling under 12 years old
- Not be the child’s legal guardian or foster parent
- Not be a licensed child care provider
